My iron has white residue in the steam holes and a portion of the metal is dark and discolored. Is there anything I can use on it to remove this?

My hand accidentally hit the clothing iron while I was ironing a shirt. How do I treat this burn? It’s not serious, but it stings like crazy.
I have a small store and need to steam my clothes. I have all materials from cotton to sari silk. I want to pay under $100 but I want it to be good. What’s your experience…should I just stick to ironing?
Could you let me know the model too?

I was ironing my shirt just before few minutes and I was really frustrated becasue each time I finish one part, the other part gets messy, so I thought: Am I the only one who have problems with ironing clothes ?
I hate ironing too…

Particularly the soleplate of a metal iron.
it is metal steam iron with non-coated soleplate. there is some residue on the soleplate that I would like to get off.
